Lots going on & card pictures

Wow, so much has gone on. My fickr has been updated in many ways - go over there –> and check it out!

The kids and I spent the past two days cleaning, hanging out with Chris, coloring, crafting and stamping. I have been doing a card swap with a couple of my girlfriends for the past few months - okay, I admit it, we all got WAY behind and are now in the process of playing catch up. I am sending three cards to each of them tomorrow. I had so much fun making them! And my kids had a blast too. They played with card scraps that I had and made various things - they loved stamping and playing with markers equally.

So with no further waiting here we have:

A Halloween Card

Let’s see, that is all copyright Stampin’ Up: retired Halloween Hedgehog stamp, cardstock and ink and I’m sorry but I put all the stuff away and don’t remember what the official name of everything is! It’s orange and yellow. Hahaha And the stars and words on the cardstock are embossed. CASE’d from here. (It’s considered CASE’ing even if it’s not exact right?)

Friend Card

Also copyright Stampin’ Up. Quotes To Live By stamp set, SU cardstock, etc. And CASE’d from here.

Happy Birthday Card

Copyright Stampin’ Up, images, cardstock, ink, etc. (I really need to figure out what I am supposed to say here. Actually do I need to say if I am not a Stampin’ Up rep?) Also, *ahem* my design. Hahaha

I really need a new camera. The only picture I like of those three is the birthday one. My camera is coming up on five years old - I went looking on ebay to see how much I could get for it a few months ago. I figure I could sell it and put the money toward a new one, good plan right? Except there was only one listing of my camera and it was $9.95!!! How sad. So a new camera is on the backburner for the time being.

Yes I am up late. Both kids were in bed and asleep by 8:10PM and I have cleaned the kitchen, done a load of laundry, visited with my Mom and read blogs. Wow, how cool is that. I’m off to bed after I post this though, the kids will be up at the crack of dawn (or possibly before, I’m not sure when daybreak is tomorrow!) and I need to be too! Chris is working the day shift starting tomorrow and I figure we will do laundry and go to the park. Jake climbs all over me like I’m a jungle gym, he needs to get some of that out!

Finding Pincushion Material

Last week I went through my baby clothes and put away what I wanted to save and got out what I wanted to yard sale. I had a yard sale over the weekend but I know it was too hot to even think about winter clothes for the babies!

But I did find  a few things I am debating using for the PinCushion Challenge. I am going for texture right now and am going to add a print at a later time. From left to right: the first is a very soft two layer long sleeved shirt. The red is only stitching on it, which I think s cool. It’s a thicker fabric so I’m not sure how this would work? The second is a sort of quilted pair of pants, they are not very thick and you can feel the little squares, so far I think this is first. LOL

The third is a thermal type onesie outfit. You can also feel the texture of this and I like it more then the blue. Whoops, stepped away from the texture on the fourth red and white one. No texture, just red and white striped.

I think I am leaning toward the grey thermal onesie. Now to look through my fabric for something that would go with it! It is grey so it’s neutral so I could add just about anything, I think.

Book meme

Grabbed from Knitting in the Shadows ~

*
1. Grab the nearest book.

2. Open the book to page 123

3. Find the fifth sentence

4. Post the text of the next 3 sentences on your blog along with these instructions.

5. Don’t you dare dig for that “cool” or “intellectual” book in your closet! I know you were thinking about it! Just pick up whatever is closest.

6. Tag whomever you want, or not.

They didn’t speak when Buck dropped Aaron off at his house.  They didn’t speak after Buck drove back to the family farm, sat at the kitchen table, and waited for his younger son to come home. He waited for a long time.

From Indian Killer by Sherman Alexie. This was the book on top of the pile that is my “to read” list - the pile is hanging out on the ledge by the stairs next to the bedroom. So really, the pile should be on my nightstand if it’s made it to the ledge. LOL

No tags, play along if you wish, but if you do leave a comment so I can visit! :)

Painted & Glued Projects

So this weekend we painted little wooden boxes and glued little I don’t know what these are called, on to them. I love going to the craft store and had to go after I got the AC Moore ad last week. :)

The first one is a fall one, isn’t it cute? The kids did all the painting and some of the gluing, I noticed there are spots here and there that they missed, but that just adds some character to it. I like that it’s not perfect and the kids were so happy to get to paint. I’m sometimes scared to let them paint LOL because of the mess that can happen.

We got the idea because a Halloween one was on display and it looked fun and easy. And I’m all about fun and easy when it comes to crafting with my kids. But the AC Moore people very smartly put the display next to the little picture things - which were bins FULL of other little figures. So we ended up doing halloween, fall, christmas and a school one.

The fall one is on the kitchen table right now, even though it doesn’t quite feel like fall around here.

So that was our weekend project! We are going to make some halloween cards either later today or tomorrow so pictures will be coming!

Updated: Whoops, for some reason they won’t upload - click on my Flickr badge over to the right —-> to check them out. Thanks!

The Be-Dazzler!

I honestly never knew these things are still being sold! Alice and Jake were watching a cartoon and a commercial came on for on and they both must have seen the commercial before because they got so excited. I went out (they were in the loft, I was in the office) and the bedazzler commerical was on.

Now, my parents gave me a bedazzler when I was a kid. I can’t remember how old I was, but I want to say around 12? And I knew I still had it, I figured it was in my craft room/office and shouldn’t take that long to find. But when I turned around to come back into the office, the little bedazzler box was right there by the door!

The kids were SO excited that I had one. Alice brought one of her dresses and wanted a star on it and Jake wanted a moon on one of his sweaters. It didn’t take that long at all and I think I need to order more studs/decorations to use with it.

For some reason I remember it being a lot harder to use then it really is. The kids could push it down themselves to set the stud and they are 5 and 3.

How do you read blogs?

I use Firefox and a plugin called Sage to subscribe to blog feeds. Sage opens in a sidebar in Firefox and when a blog has a new post, the name is bolded. It’s very easy to use.

But I know there are so many other options - by email (I just added this to Alice’s Homeschool blog - though the sign up form is longer then the sidebar), some people probably bookmark, bloglines, etc.

What do you use?
