Coming Out Of Lurkdom

What does it take for you to post a comment on someone’s blog? Does their writing just naturally want to you join in and post? What if there are already a bunch of comments? What if there are 60+? I often wonder about posting to blogs that have that many comments, and admit to not reading all of the comments and not wanting to repeat someone else. How dumb to worry of such a thing!

I’ve recently started coming out of my shell - posting when someone puts up a cool project or shared a birthday with my child. There are lots of others I’ve posted on too, but I think those were the latest. I’ve been reading these blogs for way too long to just now start posting! How embarrassing.

Oh well, I will comment away now. :)

Welcome to the world of commenting. ;) I feel the same way you do. I often wonder if my comment even gets read in the midst of 100+ comments on a post. But I DO love linking over to other blogs by clicking on the names of people who DO leave comments. :) Small world. :)

A variety of things get me to comment.
    1) knowing the blogger — makes me want to comment more, but doens’t always get it done
    2) something in the blog post is something I’d respond to if we were sitting in a room together (though I try to resist “me too” comments).
    3) the blogger asks a question (hence, clearly inviting comments).
    4) If I would like to open correspondence with the blogger generally, I comment — after all, I respond individualy to 98% of the comments I receive, and sometimes wind up with email buddies that way.

When there are hundreds… I sometimes don’t comment where I would have had there been only a few.

It’s also a mood thing. Some days, I find myself commenting all over the place…. other days, blog posts that would ordinarily inspire me to write a comment can’t lure a peep out of me.

When someone leaves a comment on my blog, I often go and check out their blog and leave a comment! (Kinda like this one!) This is an awesome blog, so welcoming and sharing and I can see the creativity shining out.

    Hugs, and keep on commenting!
    Lisa

Thought I’d hop over here and comment on your blog since you were so kind to comment on mine. :-)

I’m also bookmarking your site for future reading. It’s always nice to meet fellow homeschoolers. We’ve home educated for about sixteen years (saying that makes me feel old!).

Erika, thanks for stopping by! I often even click on comments on other peoples blogs and end up finding a cool blog.

Helen, I think it’s hard when you just want to say me too as well. LOL I don’t want to only say that, but it feels like everything has been said! I admit I’ve taken to not reading all 100 (or however many if the number is up there) comments just so I don’t feel like I’m repeating something.

Lisa, Thanks for your kind words!

Musing, thank you! 16 years, congratulations!
