Holiday Cards

I’m still doing the card swap with a few girlfriends and these are the cards I picked to make back in August. I ended up not shipping anything because I was doing the September cards and figured I would send them together.

These cards are called trifold - and wow they were SO hard for me to get right! I need a new tool to score my paper with because I’ve realized the paper cutter I like to use and the one I used to use are slightly off from each other, so the old cutter and it’s scoring tool put off marks on the paper. Here are the cards almost put all together. I love the color combination.

And here are the cards all done!

These are a new stamp set called Merry & Bright in the Holiday Stampin’ Up catalog. These stamps are SO cute! I used the set again for my September cards. (so the stamps, cardstock, ink and ribbon are all copyright SU!)

I like the trifold, I should have taken a picture of how they open but you can kind of tell in the top picture. They are fun cards that’s for sure! Perfect size for a stocking stuffer. I think I’m going to make more for the kids in my life. I may go with a regular side open 3 X 3 card, and not the tri.

I made these a few weeks ago and they are still so great! It felt early for Holiday or Christmas cards when I got the idea but now that the weather is cooling off a bit and it’s almost October, it’s perfect timing. How about you, getting ready (or already a lot ready) for the upcoming holidays?

Doodle Hi card

I love this card. Love it! The colors, the simple “hi”, the flower, all of it is so cute together! And all of the credit goes to Erika (click to read the post that talks about this card). I found her card featured on another blog as it was part of a swap. I took a guess at the colors and changed to ‘hi’ rather then thanks.

I’ve always liked layered cards and this is definitely a favorite. I made another one that was set horizontally rather then vertically and it still came out looking cute.

Chalk Leaf card

I got the idea for this card from this card in the splitcoast gallery. I’ve had the Stampin’ Up chalk set for quite a while now but never used it because I was too scared to! And after using it - wow, I love them! All I did was stamp the image (the leaves) in versamark and then use a qtip to brush the chalk over. The instructions do say to use a cotton ball but I couldn’t find them the day I did this card. The qtips worked well I thought, and when I did find the cotton ball I thought too much chalk got onto the card - though maybe that was the point? I’ve been playing around with my chalks here and there and like the effect the qtip gives much better.

I made a few of these cards for a swap group I am in and kept a couple for myself. I haven’t sent them to anyone yet, just adding to my growing card collection.

Christmas in July card

I made this card for a swap I did earlier this month. I wanted to do a holiday card - and then I got all the other swaps back the other day and they all used new stamp sets! Ah well that’s okay, it’s a cute design.

It is missing something though, color filled in the little border maybe? I do like the card and think if I made more I would just line the tags up straight. On some cards they staggered nicely and on others it seemed like it didn’t work out - all the measurements were the same but it was still kind of odd.

I’m actually going to go through the holiday cards I have now and see how many I have. I know I have quite a few but maybe I’ll make a few more of these anyway. They were fast and easy - the coloring and punching the tags out took the longest - and I like them not being all Christmas colored - you know, not *all* green and red.

Happy Cards

Happy Days card

Here are a few more cards made with the Happy Everything stamp set by SU. I really like this set! And I found a few more things to add to the cards - flowers and rhinestone stickers. We gave one of the Happy Birthday cards to a little girl in the kids’ gymnastics class.

Happy Birthday Card

I made these a while back but we are getting out the supplies to make a few more cards and I found these pictures! I forgot to post them here and just wanted to share. :)

Spider for Valentine’s Day

I made this card while having a not very creative card making moment. It definitely feels like it is lacking something. I like the spider though.

(Clicking the picture will keep you on my site but the picture will be much bigger).

I’m posting even though I don’t love the card to show that not everything we make turns out perfect! Hahahaha

Valentine’s Came Early This Year

And yet - another swap card that I made the other day. This one is for February (my early card since I was late with two of them!). I really like this Valentine’s Day card because it isn’t pink or red. LOL

All images, paper and ink Copyright Stampin’ Up. I used Almost Amethyst, Certainly Celery, Apricot Appeal and Whisper White paper, Certainly Celery ink, Sage Advice stamp set and clear embossing powder. The rhinestones are from Target.

See, a quote! I like that I lined up the hearts and the quote against the stripe, but sort of feel like something is missing in the space. I try not to always center everything – a drawback from my Desktop Publishing teacher drilling it into us that center everything is not a good thing. LOL

Oh and you can’t really tell from this scan of the card but the inside of the hearts I filled with embossing powder so they are shiny.

I try to send Valentine’s cards out every year - at least to my Mom, Dad, Grandma and nephews. I’m not sure if I’m going to use this card though. Well I mean, I’d have to make more because I just made the few to send out and one for myself! In my card making I found a LOT of pink paper … so maybe I will have to just go with pink.
