The last few episodes Izzie has been seeing Denny. He’s there and they talk and she is freaked out. Of course she is freaked out – he’s dead! He’s been dead for a long time (how long has it been in tv land that he’s been dead?) but he’s still there.

The episode titled Ties That Bind was one of the first of the ones I had missed – and what a perfect episode title. Izzie is tied to Denny, Meredith’s old friend is trying (in the few scenes she was in) to be tied to Meredith, the heart patient is tied to his beliefs, Mary McDonnell (who I love!) is tied to the rules, Callie tied to Hahn and more I can’t remember right now I’m sure. Am I reading too much into things? I don’t think so. I think there is meaning in everything – and sure some tv shows are soaps that have been on for decades and some are hour long dramas that we fall in love with. But the people writing those stories, have something to say and something to share.

I get Izzie. I mean I get why she is seeing Denny. Her new patients are all about heart surgery’s and then the guy who was supposed to get the heart that Denny gets shows up and bam, a flood of memories and feelings and he’s there again.

Depending on what you believe, you get it. (Then again maybe you just don’t like good writing – haha, kidding) You get her seeing him because it could happen, it has happened. It’s like a dream, only not. The heart patient, a Navajo guy, had his beliefs and his reasoning for being haunted. And so Izzie thinks she’s ‘just’ being haunted and burns his sweater, only he’s still there. I’ve seen members of my family, people who have been gone for years or people who were there to help me during whatever time. You can see them. It’s like …. you ask for them to be there, because you need their help, and they are there. The spirit of someone doesn’t just go away, they are always around you, ready to help you if you need them to.

And so Denny is there – he keeps telling her that he is there for her. I admit the preview for the next show is kinda wacky since it looks like they end up having sex. A friend said they read that Izzie is going to turn up sick, and thus the explanation for her seeing him. I hope that’s not true – there are so many people out there, so many cultures, that believe in what she is experiencing. To write it off with her being sick would be tragic.
