Need to sew
Or stitch? What is it called when you attach crochet pieces?

I am ALL done with the pieces for the two little girl ponchos I am making. I am amazed at how fast it went! Again with the OC behavior! LOL
I need to weave in the ends (I’m sure there is a much easier way to do this then leaving them all hanging like I did here!) and attach the pieces, do the drawstring and then I am done! I am so excited, I was only hoping they were done by Christmas. Wow to have them done this early.
The other two pieces for the other one are the same, but here they are tucked into the box I was carrying them around in ~

There is that organizing bug in me. I bought two shoe box sized boxes for these projects, I didn’t want to get the yarns mixed up because I had to buy different lots for one of the colors for them. I am starting new projects this week/coming weekend though so I know I’ll put them to good use.
Any tips for weaving in those ends?

Finished now
Earlier tonight I took this picture ~

Of course, my obsessive/compulsive ways led me to finishing it tonight as well! I was only a few rows away when this picture was taken so it wasn’t too much longer. The pattern is from a flyer I bought at the craft store and the yarn is 100% cotton. I wasn’t too many rows into it when I realized it was going to be a thick feeling and heavy scarf. But it is for my sister in law in Montana and I’m sure a thick/heavy scarf will feel good during the cold winter that Montana has. It already snowed their last week!
There is also a pattern for fingerless gloves and a hat. I haven’t crocheted in the round too much so I’m not tempted to do the hat, but I do want to make the gloves. It is a gift for her birthday (in a week) so I will either have to obsessively/compulsively work on them tomorrow or not until her birthday passes so I won’t feel pressured.
I love this scarf though, super fast and easy pattern. I plan on making myself one in a lighter weight yarn since the winter here is not nearly that cold.

Stencil Painting on T-Shirts
It’s been ages since I found out about stenciling on shirts. I didn’t try it at first, but since then I’ve given in and enjoyed many an afternoon of painting. It’s the drying that I am impatient about!
I love the purple caterpillar! That is Alice’s shirt and she picked the paint. She picked it before she picked which shirt to paint on too, so I’m glad it looks good. The yellow flower we are going to send to my Mom - maybe. I’m not so thrilled with it. It sort of looks…kind of lame. LOL I really love the buffalo and the horse! I wasn’t sure how to paint the buffalo because I messed up and cut out the center of the wing (the part that is all black), it was supposed to be just an outline.
So I improvised and did an outline and wow, I just love it. I did the sunflower before I did those two, I wonder if I would have liked the sunflower more if I did just an outline?Anyway, I love stenciling, we have plans to do more but ran out of t-shirts. I need to do some that are not center of the chest too. LOL
Crochet updates
I have to show pics of these two handkerchiefs I crocheted if only to ask what the heck went wrong!
Can you see there are two laying on top of one another in this picture?

I made the bigger one how I interpreted the pattern - and the smaller one how my friend who taught me to crochet was doing it. She and I haven’t talked about crochet for a few weeks now LOL but I need to ask her what went wrong. Mine (they are both mine, but the one I did all by myself is the bigger one) is bigger (obviously bigger) and stretchier. It is a very odd thing.
Speaking of crocheting, I am going to start a poncho in a week or so. I am going to follow what looks like an easy pattern and hopefully be able to have two finished by Christmas - one for my daughter and and one for my niece.
I need to think of something I can make for my son… any ideas? He’s 3. He doesn’t need any more blankets and we do live in South Carolina so I don’t think he will need too many sweaters.
Can you even crochet a sweater? I have much to learn.

The Blanket Is Done!
I am SO excited!
I finished the baby blanket I was making. The last time I talked about it, I needed to do all of the edging. Well my friend emailed over the weekend and said she was going to pack her hospital bag because she’s been having braxton hicks contractions. She isn’t due for I think six more weeks, but the body is obviously gearing up!
And there is it! I am so happy with how it turned out.

I did one edge on Tuesday night and the other three on Wednesday night. After I washed and dried it, there it is!

Close up of one of the corners - I always have such a hard time with mitering the corners. Three of them were easy this time around but one gave me heck. I had to put it down, walk away, and then go back and finish. I have to say I am glad that I put the blanket away for a little while - I don’t think I could have finished the edging in a day and a night if I were working on it right after putting it all together.
I’m mailing it off either tomorrow or Monday - I’ll let you know what she says!

Sewing
Clean Kitchen
Remember back when I talked about the kids painting and gluing? I have a picture of one of them on my table now.

I’ve been keeping the table cleared off so we can work there and of course display candles and the little painted boxes.
See the batting and piece of material there? That’s the very early beginnings of a rag quilt! My Mom and I planned on doing it as a joint project - then we moved. I’m going to at least start it and then we are going to figure out who is going to do what.
Really, a table can’t stay totally clear! Not with a crafter in the house, right? And the pile of notebooks is mine too - I’m taking one class this semester, plus I just love notebooks and am a list person.
Oh yeah, my friend Monica (and her family) came over and she and I started the little crocheted hat and the handkerchief I talked about yesterday. I told her that we should just doing joint projects - I started the handkerchief and she started the hat. Then we switched when I though I messed up, so she was going to corrent it for me thus I kept working on the hat.
I wonder how wierd a peice would end up if it were worked on by different people? Do crocheted pieces done by a right or left handed person end up looking different? Are there different ways to crochet? I mean different styles?

Lots going on & card pictures
Wow, so much has gone on. My fickr has been updated in many ways - go over there –> and check it out!
The kids and I spent the past two days cleaning, hanging out with Chris, coloring, crafting and stamping. I have been doing a card swap with a couple of my girlfriends for the past few months - okay, I admit it, we all got WAY behind and are now in the process of playing catch up. I am sending three cards to each of them tomorrow. I had so much fun making them! And my kids had a blast too. They played with card scraps that I had and made various things - they loved stamping and playing with markers equally.
So with no further waiting here we have:
A Halloween Card

Let’s see, that is all copyright Stampin’ Up: retired Halloween Hedgehog stamp, cardstock and ink and I’m sorry but I put all the stuff away and don’t remember what the official name of everything is! It’s orange and yellow. Hahaha And the stars and words on the cardstock are embossed. CASE’d from here. (It’s considered CASE’ing even if it’s not exact right?)
Friend Card

Also copyright Stampin’ Up. Quotes To Live By stamp set, SU cardstock, etc. And CASE’d from here.
Happy Birthday Card

Copyright Stampin’ Up, images, cardstock, ink, etc. (I really need to figure out what I am supposed to say here. Actually do I need to say if I am not a Stampin’ Up rep?) Also, *ahem* my design. Hahaha
I really need a new camera. The only picture I like of those three is the birthday one. My camera is coming up on five years old - I went looking on ebay to see how much I could get for it a few months ago. I figure I could sell it and put the money toward a new one, good plan right? Except there was only one listing of my camera and it was $9.95!!! How sad. So a new camera is on the backburner for the time being.
Yes I am up late. Both kids were in bed and asleep by 8:10PM and I have cleaned the kitchen, done a load of laundry, visited with my Mom and read blogs. Wow, how cool is that. I’m off to bed after I post this though, the kids will be up at the crack of dawn (or possibly before, I’m not sure when daybreak is tomorrow!) and I need to be too! Chris is working the day shift starting tomorrow and I figure we will do laundry and go to the park. Jake climbs all over me like I’m a jungle gym, he needs to get some of that out!
