Mommy Hobby Website

September 4, 2007 by Tsoniki 2 Comments

I am a faithful listener of WAHM Talk Radio and a couple of weeks ago Kelly announced working with Carrie Lauth (of Natural Moms Talk Radio fame, another awesome show) to “Flip That Mom’s Website” – starting with Mommy Hobby! Mommy Hobby is a site of Carrie’s but in the coming weeks she, Kelly and a few others are going to be working on giving the site a makeover.

Check out the progress here at Flip That Mom’s Website and keep in mind that once the flip is done, Carrie will be giving the website away! I admit I’m very excited for that and hope I can enter the contest to win it.

I love being able to watch the progress of changing the website, it helps to get the views of someone on the outside. I have a site built with an expensive content management system and am debating switching to wordpress for easier management. Seeing Mommy Hobby switched over may definitely sway how I feel!

Keep an eye on Mommy Hobby – flip in progress!

Reactions

The birthday girl the other day LOVED her gifts – handmade and store bought. Her Mom loved them even more, the diary book that Alice made was a huge hit! The girl is coming to stay overnight in a couple of weeks so I imagine the kids will want to do lots of crafting together. I knew I was being paranoid about her reaction…

I have at least six started projects – and only one finished! It seems my craft stashing isn’t going as well as I thought, usually I am great about already having the materials available but lately I’ve been having to make a list and pick up something here or there. I ran out of fusible webbing for a cork board project, white yarn for a baby blanket and double sided tape for a card project. It seems to work out better to figure what I need then run out and get it – rather then starting and having to stop, doing that just disappoints the kids! The baby blanket that I was making for our new baby has been changed into a gift for one of my nephews, it was going to have to be made anyway as that’s my plan for Christmas gifts, and I suppose sooner is better then later.

We are having more baby issues – and it has me emotionally exhausted. I wish I didn’t have to wait so long for my next appointment as I want answers now. I spent today cleaning, crying, praying and doing nothing. I suppose that’s normal.

Creative Kids

I’m so impressed with my kids! We have a birthday party to go to this afternoon and once they realized it was today – they ran upstairs and started making things for the little girl. Alice came back with a journal she made (cutting paper, stapling it together then writing First Diary and a math problem on the cover) wrapped up already. Jake made a pretend computer and wrote the alphabet on the bottom half on a folded piece of paper. Alice also traced a picture, and last I heard was working on a few more things because since the little girl is six, she needs six things.

I know Alice will want to give all of it to her and I wonder what the little girls reaction will be? So many kids are focused on electronic toys (though we are also giving her a movie) and I won’t want my kids feelings to be hurt by a ‘what the heck is this’ or some other not glad to receive this gift reaction. Maybe I’m just being paranoid.

Linkage

I’ve been looking for more baby things to make and what perfect timing! I’ve seen it around a bit but Not Martha has a few copies to give away! It is softies! I love softies and the book has patterns by some well known bloggers. I’ve been collecting patterns for other baby items to make too. I asked Chris how hard he thought it would be for us to not buy things made in China, and we both figured it would be very hard.

Has anyone bought the Baker’s Edge brownie pan yet? I was wanting it but after Chris’ revelation of my liking the inside of the cookie (and thus the inside of the brownie) more then the edge, I decided I can wait. But they are coming out with a lasagna pan! I love making lasagna and am definitely going to purchase this pan. In fact, I think I’ll make lasagna tonight…mmmmm. I need to run to the store anyway.

Crafty Daisies is doing an embroidery lesson follow along and so far they are up to lesson three. Here is the first one which Alice and I are going to start today. She’s been sewing random things together – paper, small pieces of cloth, leftover stars we used for a curtain project.

I need to mail out my card swap cards today – and I seem to have picked the hardest card ever to create and send off. It’s a trifold card and I was off with my measurements for four cards! So I had to cut more paper as I was only making six cards to begin with!

Baby Update

August 31, 2007 by Tsoniki Leave a Comment

Yesterday I had my ultrasound appointment for the baby – this was the anatomy ultrasound, measuring the baby, looking at the heart, kidneys, etc. It was emotional and after we got home I fell asleep on the couch while the kids watched a movie – then we all went upstairs and took an even longer nap! It felt good though and I did sleep fine last night (even if I was up a little after 5AM this morning!).

I wrote all about the baby news over here – I feel the need to take a few minutes to close my eyes before the kids wake up now!
