Welcome to the first episode of the Me Being Crafty podcast, where we explore creativity in your life.
In this episode I talk to my kids about being creative, what that means to them, things they like doing, and if they remember how they expressed themselves when they were young. It was a little tough to interview them because we were sitting at the computer and they were looking at the show notes I had written down. But we did visit about being creative for a few minutes.
When you are interested in being creative with your children, in sharing some activity that you love, just share some supplies, some ideas, and watch them show you amazing things. Subscribe to the podcast and listen to episode one for a short interview with my kids and my thoughts on what it is like to be creative with them.
Check out the first episode and let me know how you create with your children. What are their favorite art or craft items to make? Do they sit on your lap to sew like so many children do? Do you let them have access to any and all supplies? Leave me a comment and let me know what your kids like to do and how you share your creative energy with them.

One thing I’ve told people for years – let the kids use the good materials and the good tools. Too often there’s mommy’s stash and the kid’s stash, with a fear the good stuff will be “wasted”.
while there are times you just want to give a kid a scrap piece of paper and a pair of safety scissors, for older children it’s especially important to have access to better materials. The end result is better and they gain more confidence and more skills this way.

I totally agree! The markers I bought and let my kids use – I found a bunch of them over the weekend when I cleaned up the kids rooms. LOL I love when kids are given the chance to create something, they are always so proud!
