001: Being Creative with Your Kids

October 31, 2014 by Tsoniki 2 Comments

Welcome to the first episode of the Me Being Crafty podcast, where we explore creativity in your life.

mbc 300x300

In this episode I talk to my kids about being creative, what that means to them, things they like doing, and if they remember how they expressed themselves when they were young. It was a little tough to interview them because we were sitting at the computer and they were looking at the show notes I had written down. But we did visit about being creative for a few minutes.

When you are interested in being creative with your children, in sharing some activity that you love, just share some supplies, some ideas, and watch them show you amazing things. Subscribe to the podcast and listen to episode one for a short interview with my kids and my thoughts on what it is like to be creative with them.

Check out the first episode and let me know how you create with your children. What are their favorite art or craft items to make? Do they sit on your lap to sew like so many children do? Do you let them have access to any and all supplies? Leave me a comment and let me know what your kids like to do and how you share your creative energy with them.

000: Welcome to the Me Being Crafty podcast

Welcome to the introductory episode of the Me Being Crafty podcast, where we explore creativity in your life.

I’m so excited to share this with you. I love podcasting and for a few months now I have wanted to get a podcast going again. There is a great class on Creative Live about storytelling and it just spoke to me, I knew that now is the right time to get started. I had a podcast years ago, and I loved it, but for a few reasons I stopped creating it. I have always wanted to get back to it and I am thrilled that I have this introductory episode to share with you now.

This introductory episode is a little of my story around creativity and being a creative person, and also a little of what the podcast is going to bring. I’d like this podcast to be a conversation about creativity, and what that means to people, and what it means to be pursuing a life where you are successful on your own terms with your creativity.

Subscribe to the podcast and I’d love to hear what you think! Leave me a comment if you would like to be a guest on the show or can think of someone awesome that you think I should contact.

Thinking of a Podcast

June 13, 2014 by Tsoniki 1 Comment

Recently I realized I’ve been blogging for almost ten years (in the fall it will be official). I started with quizzes and three or four sentence entries. I really cut back on blogging over the past few years, but after we moved overseas I realized how lucky we are to have connections online. Even with being very active on instagram, having a blog allows me to ‘talk’ to people. It at least allows me to get my words out. When you live in a country that you don’t know many people in and you don’t speak the native language very well, you soon feel the need to find someone to talk to.

I had a podcast once (the website redirects here now) and I loved it. I just binge-listened to Within A Quarter Inch and that spark to podcast lit back up. I loved podcasting, even if I listen to the episodes and feel like I was awkward. I would love to podcast again, and so I am thinking about it. I am thinking about how different my life is here and what fun a podcast could be. I love a conversational podcast, I watch a couple of video podcasts that are interviews and they are so great.

I think I’d like to find someone to podcast with me. The time difference that I’m in makes that harder for my friends in the US though. I have the desire to get all of my ideas out and to do something with them.

And just for the enjoyment of it, a picture of macarons that a friend taught me to make.
