Black Friday Sale at Craftsy

November 28, 2014 by Tsoniki Leave a Comment

Several years ago, when shopping online for Black Friday started gaining popularity, I realized that I just love being able to shop from home. I remember sitting on my bed with my kids playing and I had a laptop looking at the different sales that were happening.

The Craftsy Black Friday sale is HUGE – Every class is $19.99 or less!

Craftsy

It’s always great to get a class on sale for yourself but don’t forget you can also buy classes as gifts! I love getting a craftsy class for someone, it’s about something they are interested in and I like giving meaningful gifts instead of a random tchotchke. Shop the Craftsy Black Friday sale now!

009: Alorha Baga

Welcome to episode 009 of the Me Being Crafty podcast, where we explore creativity in your life.

mbc 300x300

In this episode I talk to Alorha Baga, a beadwork designer, teacher, and youth group coordinator living near Lemoore CA. Alorha has been teaching beadwork classes for over four years and just this year she opened a studio in her home. She teaches the basics of beadwork and moves into specific stitches and projects. She loves teaching people to bead and sharing her knowledge. Alorha is also very involved in the local youth groups near the reservation where she and her family live and she has been for many years. I am happy to see her so involved with working with our young people, this is very important.

Alorha’s Grandmother is from the Rosebud Reservation where I am from, and Alorha and I connected on facebook. She makes beautiful beadwork projects and I love seeing what she is working on. Thanks for being on the show Alorha!

If you can teach someone something creative, if you have the skills to teach beadwork or quilting or sewing or painting, I hope you are able to share your skills. Teaching others to do something feels good – we are able to share our knowledge and seeing the spark in someone’s eyes after you have taught them something is just a good thing. It’s like when you have children and you teach them something new. I remember working with my daughter and seeing her face when something ‘clicked’ with her. It’s really fun to teach someone a new skill. Don’t shy away if someone asks you to be their teacher, offer them what you have and be proud of what you know. Write tutorials for your website or make a video showing a technique. Sometimes we feel like it’s all been done before or someone else already has a video showing that, but if someone comes to you, wouldn’t it be great to show them something from you? I need to take my own advice I know.

Listen to episode 009 and let me know how you are sharing your knowledge.

Leave me a comment and let me know how you were creative today. Me, I’m hoping you have a good holiday weekend visiting family and friends.

008: Andrea House: Tickled Peach

Welcome to episode 008 of the Me Being Crafty podcast, where we explore creativity in your life.

mbc 300x300

In this episode I talk to Andrea House, of Tickled Peach, about being creative after you have children and the struggle that can come when we try to find ourselves as individuals. Andrea has two small children and struggled with post partum depression and anxiety after the birth of her boys, and for her that meant feeling alone. Social media plays a part in how we feel because we can see these perfect photo shoots of what people are making or we see the clean houses and we think we are doing something wrong with our own lives. We are not! Embrace life as it happens, whatever stage you are in, and know that your family loves you for who you are.

Andrea House

Andrea and I met years ago when both of our husbands were stationed in Washington State. I have always admired her decor and how much  thought goes into decorating for every holiday. Thanks for being on the show Andrea!

Listen to episode 008 and let me know what you did to find yourself as an individual after you had children. For a while, our lives are all about our babies, and that’s normal and okay. That’s encouraged. If you are struggling with post partum depression, please reach out to someone and get help. Call your doctor, call your best friend, tell someone so they can hold your hand as you make the changes necessary for you to be okay. When we find something we can do, that is just for us, that is us doing something creative, we can start to feel like ourselves again. I enjoyed my kids as babies and I am enjoying them as they grow up, watching them change from  being toddlers to little kids to young teenagers. That enjoyment isn’t always smiling and happy, it can be peppered with thoughts of self doubt and fraught with such a wide variety of feelings. I hope you have a hand to hold, and when you are able to, I hope creativity bursts forth.

Leave me a comment and let me know how you were creative today. Me, I’m showing my Mom our beautiful town and enjoying her company!
